What Drives Us

We Foster Education

Parents across all social classes in our region are facing various hurdles in their efforts to raise healthy, positive, progressive children. These challenges are becoming apparent in the region’s social and economic landscape.

The latest regional stats suggest that only 30 % of Caribbean parents tell stories, play games or sing songs to their children. For many, physical punishment begins at a very early age.

42% of Caribbean families are headed by only one parent – usually a woman.

Approximately 25-30% of Caribbean children start primary school without having acquired the basic cognitive skills needed to benefit from the education these institutions provide.

We are here to help parents and caregivers navigate the challenges of raising children in today’s world.

Our Solution

We partner with the relevant parenting organisations, governments, international and regional NGOs and the private sector.

EDUCATING CARIBBEAN PARENTS

We focus our efforts on partnering with the relevant parenting organisations, Governments, international and regional NGOs and the private sector to ensure:

“The promotion of the welfare of children and the family”, via:

  1. the improvement of knowledge, especially as it relates to parenting and child development and the public dissemination of such knowledge in a way not constituting propaganda;
  2. the promotion and publication of research with a view to increasing the common stock of knowledge in areas that affects children and improves parenting;
  3. the promotion of the welfare of children, including the prevention of cruelty to them;
  4. the promotion of the social well-being of the family.

Our People

SHAPING THE VISION

Francine and Joseph Charles have been married for 16 years and have been blessed with two beautiful children. They have experienced the challenges and joys of parenting and have seen the devastating effects on a generation that misinformed or absent parents can bring.

Francine and Joseph drew on the extensive experience they both have in communications and their shared passion for children and committed themselves to creating relevant media and materials to help Caribbean parents. Out of these efforts was born: My Child and I Charity.

Today, My Child and I Charity is supported by a team of similarly committed professionals who are themselves parents and caregivers. The TV show, public workshops and online family resource centre are all mammoth projects involving scores of people too numerous to mention here. Each of them have our undying gratitude for their tireless work.
